3 Easy Ways to Get Your Makeup to Last All Day

Ever wonder why your makeup was melting off your face by the end of the night? It’s not that you’re doing anything wrong, but you might be missing a few key steps. By implementing just a few steps, you’ll likely see a huge difference in the longevity of your makeup!

1. CREAM BEFORE POWDERS

One way to increase the wear time of your makeup is to layer powders over your creams.

For example: Adding cream bronzers, liquid or cream highlights, cream blushes and then layering your powder bronzers, blushes and highlight overtop can significantly increase the wear time of your makeup.

I also believe that creams are way easier to blend so if you’re looking for a much more natural look, stick with creams or liquids and forego the powder products and head straight to Step 2- Translucent Setting Powders

2. SETTING YOUR MAKEUP WITH TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDERS

Translucent Setting Powders can truly lock in and set all your hard work! By dusting a light layer of setting powder over either your cream/liquid makeup or over your powders, you can be sure that your makeup will last a few extra hours and won’t budge... even if you were to start sweating.

A cult favourite is the LAURA MERCIER TRANSLUCENT POWDER, thanks to its finely milled texture.

Some translucent powders can help brighten certain areas as well!

For Example: Setting your undereye concealer with a coloured setting powder (ie. Something with a yellow undertone, or if your deeper in complexion a peach undertone) could help brighten that area. [refer to my previous post that talks all about colour correcting if you’re unsure]

If you have really dry skin, or if you have a little more mature skin, you may wish to forego this step entirely and head to STEP 3.

3. SETTING SPRAYS

If you are crunched for time, and won’t be able to add all 3 steps to your makeup routine, simply add a setting spray to the end of your makeup routine.

Setting Sprays not only lock in all of your hard work, but a lot of times, if your makeup looks too powdery, a great way to fix that is to spray your face with a setting spray.

There are many different setting sprays out there, so finding the proper one of your skin type could be beneficial. Additionally, some setting sprays offer specific finishes (ie. Matte or Dewy) depending on the look you are trying to achieve.

However, a cult favourite that works for a lot of people would be the URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER SETTING SPRAY!
